Ficus Bonsai

Ficus Bonsai Premium Plant, ideal for indoors and partial shady areas. There are hundreds of varieties of the Ficus, but the most popular one for Bonsai is the Ficus Retusa, which is often shaped in an s-curved trunk and has oval, dark green leaves. The Microcarpa, Tigerbark, Willow leaf, Golden Gate and Taiwan varieties are quite similar to the Retusa. The Ficus Ginseng is another popular tree. It has a thick, pot-bellied trunk, similar to the Ginseng root. Sometimes it is grafted with Ficus microcarpa leaves (combining it to a ficus microcarpa ginseng).

Care Requirements

  1. Light: Ficus bonsai prefer bright, indirect sunlight. A south-facing window is ideal, but they can also tolerate east or west-facing windows. If natural light is insufficient, consider using grow lights.

  2. Watering: Water your Ficus bonsai when the topsoil feels slightly dry. They can tolerate occasional over- or underwatering, but consistent moisture is crucial for healthy growth. Daily misting can help maintain humidity, especially in dry environments.

  3. Humidity: While Ficus can endure lower humidity levels due to their thick leaves, they thrive in higher humidity. If kept indoors, regular misting and a humid environment will promote better growth.

  4. Fertilization: During the growing season (spring and summer), fertilize every two weeks with a balanced liquid fertilizer. In winter, reduce feeding to once a month.

  5. Pruning: Regular pruning is essential to maintain the desired shape and size of your Ficus Bonsai Premium Plant . Prune back to two leaves after six to eight leaves have grown to encourage bushier growth.
