ARMADA® Insecticide-Acaricide
ARMADA® Insecticide-Acaricide have 1.8% Abamectin which is an insecticide and acaricide that belongs to the avermectin family. It is derived from naturally occurring compounds produced by the soil bacterium Streptomyces avermitilis. Abamectin is effective against a wide range of pests, including mites and insects
Abamectin acts on the nervous system of insects and mites, causing paralysis and death. It enhances chloride ion influx into nerve cells, leading to hyperpolarization and disruption of nerve function
Mite Control:
- Spider Mites: Abamectin is particularly effective against spider mites, which are common pests that feed on the sap of plants, leading to stippling, yellowing, and potential defoliation.
Insect Control:
- Thrips: Abamectin is used to control thrips, which are small, slender insects that can cause damage by feeding on plant tissues.
- Leafminers: Abamectin may be effective against leafminer larvae, which tunnel into leaves and create visible damage.
Lepidopteran Pests:
- Caterpillars: Abamectin has activity against certain caterpillar pests, which can damage leaves, stems, and fruits of plants.
Aphid Control:
- Aphids: While not as commonly used for aphid control as some other insecticides, abamectin can have activity against aphids, which are sap-sucking insects that can distort plant growth and transmit viruses.
Scale Insects:
- Scale Insects: Abamectin may be used to control scale insects, which often attach themselves to plant stems and leaves, sucking sap and causing yellowing.
Citrus Pests:
- Citrus Pests: Abamectin is sometimes used in citrus orchards to control pests like citrus mites and citrus leafminers.
